
Dubai - Moroccan athlete, Nawal El Moutawakil, first vice-president of the international Olympic committee, was awarded on Sunday the Arab Sports figure prize, part of the Sheikh Mohamad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum prize of sports creativity.
The former Olympic champ (400 m hurdles in the 1984 games of Los Angeles) was rewarded for her outstanding performances and contribution to sports.
Sheikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, president of the Asian football confederation, was made Arab sports figure while president of the international Olympic committee, Germany's Thomas Bach, was named international sports figure.
The UAE sports figure prize went to Sheikha Fatma Bint Moubarak, president of the higher council of the Foundation for family development and the general union of women of the United Arab Emirates.
The prize-awarding ceremony will be held in Dubai next January 6
