Morocco Resolutely Determined To Further Strengthen Excellent Relations With KSA

Jeddah- Morocco is resolutely determined to further strengthen its excellent relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said, Tuesday in Jeddah, Foreign Minister, Saad Dine El Otmani, commending the level of bilateral cooperation and strong ties of brotherhood between the two Kingdoms.

 

Speaking at the opening session of the 12th Moroccan-Saudi Joint Commission, the Minister welcomed the holding of this meeting which is a new opportunity for dialogue and exchange of views on how to further consolidate cooperation between Morocco and Saudi Arabia under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI and his brother the Custodian of the Two Holy Places of Islam, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz.

 

Minister El Otmani stressed that the two sides touched on the economic and trade issues as well as the private sector, calling on businessmen of the two countries to be part of a true partnership, and to give a new impetus to cooperation in economy, trade and investment, stressing the need to increase the volume of trade.

 

The Moroccan official said Morocco will remain open to the proposals to strengthen bilateral cooperation and to give greater attention to cooperation in priority areas for the two countries.

   

Mr. El Otmani also welcomed the strong contribution of Saudi Arabia, as part of the aid granted by the Gulf countries to Morocco to fund major development projects in the Kingdom.

   

The minister also reiterated the strong support and commitment of Morocco to preserve the stability, security and unity of the countries of the Gulf, and to continue cooperation with its partners in the fight against terrorism, drug and weapons trafficking, money laundering and transnational crime.

   

The opening session was attended by Ambassador of Morocco to Riyadh Abdessalam Baraka, Director of the Arab Gulf section at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Tazi, and representatives of other government departments, and Moroccan businessmen.
