Palestinian President Commends HM the king's Efforts to Support Resistance of Al-Quds Inhabitants

Date : 31 03 2019
Tunis - Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas commended on Sunday in Tunis the efforts made by HM King Mohammed VI to support the resistance of the Al-Quds inhabitants.

"We highly commend the contacts and efforts of HM King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, and Bayt Mal Al-Quds," to support the holy city, president Abbas said at the opening of the 30th Arab Summit.

In this regard, he noted that "the continuation of Israeli policy and practices to undermine the two-State solution has made us lose all hope of achieving a real peace".

"The continuation of Israel's racist policy would not have been possible without the support of the US Administration, notably its recognition of Al-Quds as the capital of Israel and the transfer of its embassy to the holy city," he stressed.

The Palestinian head of State said that Washington's decisions represent a major blow to the Arab Peace Initiative and a radical change in the position of successive US administrations towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, thus ending its role as sponsor of the peace process.

"We could no longer support or coexist with the status quo in order to preserve the interests of the Palestinian people and their aspirations for freedom and independence," he added, announcing the Palestinian National Authority's intention to take "decisive measures and decisions" in the near future.
