Upon their arrival at the Institute, HM the King and the Supreme pontiff reviewed a detachment of the Royal Guard that made the honors. Then, the Commander of the Faithful and His Holiness Pope Francis were greeted by the minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, the secretary general of the Higher Council of Ulema and the director of the Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams, Morchidines and Morchidates.

After the screening of an institutional film on the goals, missions and various achievements of the Institute, the minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, gave a speech before the Commander of the Faithful and the Head of the Catholic Church, in which he stressed that the training of imams and instructors, a mission for which the Commander of the Faithful, HM the King, created this Institute, is part of his commitment to protect religion.

In line with this logic, the Commander of the Faithful has, since his accession to the throne, put in place reforms and introduced a dynamic of concordance between the modern institutional frameworks and the purposes of religion in different aspects, he underlined.

This distinction means that the major issues affecting the management of Islam elsewhere are resolved in the context of the Commandery of the Faithful, Toufiq added.

Subsequently, two students from the Mohammed VI Institute gave their personal accounts and share their experiences within this Imam training institution.

Hindu Usman, a student from Nigeria, said that she is convinced that after graduation and return to her country, she would be able to argue and convince that religion is for peace and goodness, that a believer is only accountable before God.

She assured that she will devote her time and efforts to promoting awareness in the service of peace and against violence in the name of religion, through the experience and knowledge acquired within the Mohammed VI Institute.

For his part, Aboubakr Hmaidouch, a French student of North African origin, pointed out that the Muslim community in France is in great need of imams and preachers so that the values of religion contribute to living together and to spiritual well-being in society.

He recalled that after the terrorist attacks that struck France in 2015, he felt the need to "acquire knowledge and communication skills" to be effective in a "society shaped by multiple currents and sometimes by ready-made ideas".

Thanks to the Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams, Morchidines and Morchidates, "I was able to acquire a solid background in traditional religious science and in modern humanities knowledge," he said.

This visit was also marked by religious songs of Muslim, Christian and Hebrew tradition, performed by the Moroccan Philharmonic Orchestra.

At the end of the meeting, the minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs handed to His Holiness Pope Francis "The guide of the Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams, Morchidines and Morchidates", as well as the Institute's publications in Arabic and English in relation to the Christian religion.

At the end of this visit HM the King, Commander of the Faithful, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, took leave of his illustrious guest.
