HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa Chairs Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection's Governing Board

Rabat - HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa chaired, here Thursday, the governing board of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection.


In her address, Her Royal Highness outlined the Foundation's various programs and highlighted the smooth running of the awareness-raising and education programs for sustainable development, the Foundation said in a statement.


In 2014, 27 beaches were awarded the "Blue Flag", 64 tourist accommodation establishments were awarded the "Green Key", and 79 eco-schools were awarded the "Green Pavilion", the same source pointed out.


This year, 2,000 students from 359 middle and high schools participated at the 12th "Young Reporters for the Environment" contest, 73 schools were supplied with solar photovoltaic kits, and 17,909 palms trees were planted in the Marrakech Palmeraie neighborhood as part of the "voluntary Carbon Offset" program, the same source added.


In this regard, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa underlined the mobilization of all the parties concerned in the implementation of the Foundation's actions.


The 2016 agenda, which marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the foundation, will translate the continuity and the reinforcement of its commitment in different fields. A vision to develop the foundation programs will be offered to the Board members in order to set the strategic themes for the 15 coming years.


This meeting was held in the presence of the board members, including Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Aziz Akhannouch, and chairwoman of the General Confederation of Morocco's Businesses, Bensalah Chaqroun.
