The project, part of the integrated program for the urban and economic development of the city of tetouan (2014-2018), reflects the particular interest that HM the King grants to the sector of sport as a vector of integration, social cohesion and development of young people's personal skills and abilities. 

Extending over 36 hectares, the stadium will meet international standards and criteria of the International football federation (FIFA). Equipped with state-of-the-art technologies that meet international requirements of safety, security and service quality, it was designed in a modern and innovating manner of space optimization for better management of supporters and visitors flows. 

The sports facility, which has a capacity of 40,410 seats, including 400 for people with specific needs, will feature a major stadium, four training grounds, an official VIP stand, areas for players and coaches, a press center and a space for FIFA administration. 

The Tetouan grand stadium, which will also include emergency medical care rooms, a medical center, a conference room, coffee shops and restaurants, shops, parking lots and parks, will be adapted to host top level sports activities and events. 

The new-generation project, carried out in partnership between the interior ministry, the youth and sports ministry, the Agency for the promotion and economic development of Northern provinces and the Provincial council of Tetouan, will also serve for training and instruction and help, therefore, in the emergence of new talents in football among the young generations.

Numerous large-scale projects are going on in the region of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima to turn it into an economic and social development pole.
