HM the King chairs in Rabat banquet on Throne Day

Rabat - HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and HH Prince Moulay Ismail, chaired, on Thursday at Rabat Royal Palace, a banquet on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of the sovereign's accession to the Throne of his Glorious Ancestors.

 

At the beginning of the ceremony, HM the King saluted the Moroccan flag while the national anthem was playing and a 21-gun salute was fired.

 

The sovereign was afterwards greeted by several Moroccan and foreign figures who came to extend their wishes to HM the King on this joyful occasion.

 

The sovereign was greeted by His Lordship Antonio Sozzo, Apostolic Nuncio (ambassador of Vatican), dean of the European diplomatic corps Mohamadou Youssifou, ambassador of Cameroon, dean of the African diplomatic corps and the Islamic diplomatic corps, Fransisco A. Caraballo, ambassador the Dominican Republic, dean of the American diplomatic corps, Hazim Ahmed Al Youssoufi, ambassador of the Republic of Iran, dean of the Arab diplomatic corps and Jamal Ben Hassan, ambassador of Malaysia, dean of the Asian diplomatic corps.

 

The sovereign was afterwards greeted by Abdelilah Benkirane, head of government, Rachid Talbi Alami, speaker of the house of representatives, Mohamed Sheikh Biadillah, speaker of the house of advisors, Mustapha Fares, first president of the Court of Cassation, Mustapha Meddah, general prosecutor at the said court, Mohamed Achergui, chairman of the constitutional council, Driss Jettou, president of the revenue court and Nizar Baraka, president of the economic, social and environmental council.

 

The sovereign was also greeted by His Grace Vincent Lamdel, archbishop of Rabat, His Grace Pastor Samuel Amedro, president of the evangelical church in Morocco, His Grace Maxim Massalitin, president of the Russian Orthodox church, and Yossef Israel, Chief Rabbi of Casablanca.

 

HM the King was also greeted by Donald Kaberuka, president of the African Development Bank, Mohamed Moussaoui, president of the Union of Mosques in France and honorary president of the French Council for Muslim Cult and Chief Rabbi Arthur Schneier, president of the "Appeal of Conscience Foundation" in New York.

 

On this occasion, HM the King awarded Royal Wissams to several Moroccan and foreign figures.
