Date : 01 08 2015

Rabat - HM King Mohammed VI, Supreme chief and general chief of staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) chaired this Friday afternoon at the Royal Palace in Rabat the oath-taking ceremony of 1,470 officers who graduated from various military and paramilitary institutes and schools and officers who were promoted, including 268 women-officers.

HM the King named the new class "Moulay Ali Chrif".

After saluting the national flag as the national anthem was playing, the Sovereign delivered the following address:

"Praise be to God

May peace and blessings be upon the Prophet, His Kith and Kin

Honorable Officers,

As the Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, it gives me pleasure to preside over this ceremony, during which the officers who have graduated this year from various military and security academies will be taking the oath.

The solid, modern training we have provided you with, coupled with the desire to make sure that our Royal Armed Forces continue to receive in-service training show how keen I am to ensure that our Armed Forces have the means and skills they need to perform their national and humanitarian duties.

I have decided to name this year’s Group of Graduates after Moulay Ali Cherif, the founder of the Alawite Dynasty, who was an outstanding scholar as much as a pious man, and who was known for his selfless sacrifices to defend sacred national and religious values.

I have no doubt that you realize what this name stands for in our nation’s time-honored history, particularly with respect to the commitment to uphold our country’s unity and the symbiosis between the Kings of the Alawite Dynasty and the Moroccan people.

I therefore urge you to live up to what I expect from you in terms of commitment and discipline as well as loyalty to your everlasting motto: God, the Country, the King."
