IMF Head hails morocco's economic reforms, «A Model to follow».

Davos (Switzerland) - Director general of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde hailed, on Friday, the economic reforms under way in Morocco which she described as a model to follow in the region.

 

Reform efforts by the Kingdom are commendable and made the country a model to follow for the region's countries, said Lagarde during a meeting with head of government Abdelilah Benkirane on the sidelines of the 44th Davos World Economic Forum (January 22-25).

 

She also highlighted the anticipation capacity of Morocco in a difficult juncture without waiting for recommendations by international financial bodies.

 

Morocco is represented at the annual Davos forum by Benkirane who is leading a delegation composed of the Minister of Finances Mohamed Boussaid, the Minister delegate for the Environment Hakima El Haite and the Minister delegate for Foreign Affairs and cooperation Mbarka Bouaida.

 

The Kingdom has been chosen this year to organize a roundtable on climate change within the framework of the preparation of the UN summit on the same topic, scheduled next September.
